Blank is Not the Answer
"War is Not the Answer"; I have seen this statement on bumper stickers quite often. I’ve seen "Love is the Answer" bumper stickers about... well... I believe I’ve seen them on the back of a few VW Busses accompanied by a peace sign and a hemp leaf but I’m fairly sure that’s about it.
It does not take much intellect to make statements about what is wrong in this world. It takes even less to slap a three dollar sign on the back of your vehicle so that your voice may be visualized. What I would really love to see is an attempt to answer that which the predicated word does not. If you’re going to make a statement, why not be bold enough to actually stick your neck out a bit and offer a conclusion that could entertain a healthy debate.
Frankly, war is the answer for some situations and to believe otherwise, in my belief, is just plain foolish. I offer one case in point; September 1, 1939. This marks the beginning of the Second World War as German Armored Divisions invade Poland. If war is not the answer in this case, then I would truly like to understand what the answer should have been.
This minutive diatribe is not directly related to the war in Iraq, although I admit the sparks have warmed thoroughly in our current warfare’s decorum. Yes I know, it’s simply a bumper sticker and I should let fester this, no longer. Yet this is an overall theme I witness in many a conversation and I offer one simple thought; next time a statement is made which serves only to blame, ask the weighty portion of the soap box to offer a solution...
P.S.
I’m still trying to figure out if I’m to stay with this blog thing or not. As you can see, it’s been quite a while since my last post.
